Keycaps: multi-color printing in Bambu Studio (3MF)
- Open the 3MF file in Bambu Studio (drag and drop).
- In the object list on the left, find the Keycap Body / Text / Image parts.
- Click each part and assign the filament (AMS slot) you want.
- Slice and print. Leave the keycap with the legend facing up.
If you downloaded STL (ZIP): unzip it, select all STL files, and drag them into Bambu Studio. When asked whether to load them as a single object, choose Yes, then assign colors per part.
- Slicing at a layer height of 0.12 mm or less makes lettering sharper.
- If the stem does not fit your switch, adjust the cross width in 0.05 mm steps in the keycap settings (smaller if loose, larger if tight).
2.5D keychains, magnets, and signs
- A 2.5D model stacks elements on a thin base plate. Text and images are added as elements that you can drag in the preview.
- Items higher in the element list are on higher layers.
- The sticker border is trimmed automatically so it does not cover other elements.
- The magnet pocket goes on the back, and it is limited automatically if it would be too deep.
- The keychain loop always stays on the outside edge of the design so the hole is never buried.
- Before your first print, check part separation and heights in your slicer.
Clickers
- Switches are not included in the model. You need a real MX-style or BOX MX-style switch.
- In the print layout, the body is flipped so the switch opening faces up, and each cap lies with its bottom on the bed.
- The 3MF keeps the body, caps, and each color as separate parts. Keep their positions and assign material and color in your slicer.
- A plate cutout of 14.0 to 14.1 mm is a starting point. Calibrate in 0.05 to 0.20 mm steps for your printer's shrinkage and material.
- If the cross socket under the cap is too tight, increase the stem clearance. If it is loose, decrease it.
- Make the keychain hole comfortably larger than the thickness of your split ring.
- MX and BOX MX describe compatible dimensions only. They do not imply approval by, or full compatibility with, any manufacturer.
- For models you sell, use only images and logos you have the right to use.
Cake toppers
- The letters and the backing are separate parts, so you can print them in different colors.
- Print the topper lying flat with the backing on the bed. The picks print flat along with it.
- Toppers are decorations. Use a food-safe filament and follow local rules if they touch food.
